Kendall Soccer Park, July 20, 2008- Leo Vasquez and Lucas Garcia both scored in the second half to lead Seleccion Miami U20 to a 2-0 victory over SSM Premier League defending champion Miami Boca Juniors. Daniel Semerano provided an assist on the first goal when he took a free kick which he crossed to Garcia. Garcia, who was left unmarked when Boca defenders followed Juan Moran into the box, headed the ball into the upper corner just over the outstretched hands of the Boca Keeper. The second goal came late in the game when Vasquez took a pass deep in Boca territory, controlled and took a shot that sailed between the Boca keepers’ legs. Both teams fought hard and long in what is quickly becoming an SSM Premier League classic among two of the top teams in the league. The victory becomes a sweet revenge for Seleccion Miami which was knocked out of the playoffs last season by eventual league champion Miami Boca. |
